An Introduction and Application of a Health Living Lab Utilizing Online Messenger: with a Focus on Health Prevention Program for Fine Dust

Abstract

|
This study performed a living lab program in order to enhance health literacy and promote health, and prevent children and their primary caregivers from health risks posed by fine dust. The health living lab program was designed to stimulate children and their parents to respond new health promotion information and conduct health prevention activities regarding to fine dust. Participants are 29 children and 26 primary caregivers of the participant children from Seoul and Busan. Primary caregivers are defined as those who are responsible for child care at home. We provided information regarding fine dust related health policy and health preventive action to participants through card news by utilizing online messenger program. Participants showed different levels of interest and response, and involvement to the program. While unexpected difficulties and limitation on living lab program has also emerged, continuous interaction between participants and researchers, and participants¡¯ experiences have innovated the fine dust health prevention living lab program, finally allowing us to produce a successful final output. This study suggests that a living lab program could be a new strategy to address social problem, and furthermore, operational difficulties and interaction could be a driving force to innovation of the living lab program.
